Energy Crisis!!

Yep, that's right.......with all this global warming, all the "green" going on out there, and yet, I am having my very own energy crisis.......

No, its not a shortage in electricity and no I haven't had my lights turned off at the house. Its just me. My body. I am running on empty (running on -- oops an old Eagles song). I have hit yet another exhaustion wall that I thought would've left by this point in the game. I was in such pain this weekend that I took my leftover pain medication from the surgery. Guess I am glad I didn't need it much after the surgery. I don't know what's going on. Yes, I know you need to go to the doctor....Well, I have an appointment for Friday. I have a laundry list of things to tell him. I just have always been the type when I am in the doctor's office, 1) I forget everything I want to say.....so I take a list....forget to get the list out, then 2) I am so intimidated by doctors that I just take what he is saying and go on. So, I always get frustrated with myself and with the doctor. So, I do have my list. I think I am going to hand it to him Friday and say, "Here is my list, I don't communicate well, so read it and tell me what you think!"

This exhaustion feels like when I was just out of the hospital or back when they were threatening blood transfusions because of severe anemia. So, he is going to have to run a test or two. Do I really want this? NO! I would rather my extra money not go to the doctors, labs, insurance companies. Who wants that? No one! I am still paying off the hysterectomy. Who'd a thought, hysterectomies on the lay-a-way plan! Sorry, have to laugh!!

I am trying to do good diet wise, because first of all it does make me feel better. Its not always working that way because I am too damned tired to think about food, let alone fix it.

So, for your praying types out there, send me a little prayer that we can figure this out, or I will get over it....for anybody else, just some well-wishes would be nice! I am at the end of my rope, tied a knot in it, and about to free-fall into ............................................

CJ, it could be a host of maladies...the first one just simply being that we are women, and all kinds of things happen to us as we get older. Suzanne Sommers was on Oprah talking about the 96, (I think that was the #), pills she takes daily. She came up with her own home remedies for everything that ails us after we hit our 40's.

I went to the doctor once and told him I thought I was going crazy!! Menopause, hot flashes, crying spells, ice cold, no sex drive, bitchiness, you name it, I did it!!

Hang in there and let us know what the doc says.

I will pray for you.

I SO hear where you are coming from. After my hysterectomy, I was so freaked out by the extreme tiredness I did all kinds of research into it.

HysterSisters is a web community with a huge amount of information about everything hysterectomy.

By the time I saw my doctor (with my list ;) ) I knew what she was going to say: This degree of exhaustion is completely normal.

Honestly, before my hysterectomy, I slept 5 hours a night. 7 if I was sick or something but I was not a big sleeper. Ever since my surgery last June, I have had to drag myself out of bed after 8 or more hours of sleep.

I also, like I suspect you did, overdid physical exertion too soon after my surgery and paid a big painful price about 6 weeks post.

That wasn't the last time though. Since my weight restrictions were lifted, I have had an easy dozen bad strains that caused me to rethink my activity level.

Also, like you, I have a high pain tolerance and didn't use all my meds right after the surgery.

I've come to find out that a high pain tolerance is a mixed blessing because pain is a signal from our bodies that we are doing too much and we miss the signal.

So, go check out HysterSisters and make yourself feel better. I think at least you'll see that what you are experiencing is totally normal. You might not like the advice they all give though be patient and take it easy.

Many, many women don't feel "normal" again for a year. Some never do. There are a few though that are right back to work. A lot depends on the kind of surgery you had.

A simple laproscopic proceedure increases your chances of that quick recovery. Unfortunately I had a lot more work done than that and none of it was laproscopic.

At this point, the best I can hope for is that when gardening season opens I'll be able to use a shovel again.

I'm done whining (sorry). I just really wanted to let you know about hystersisters.

You are gonna be okay. You just have to bite the bullet and take it easier.

Don't feel bad about forgetting when you get to the doc. I'm an RN and I forget to talk to my doctor about stuff. That's sad.

Consider yourself added to my prayer list. I really mean that too.

Also, hang on to that knot in the meantime!!!!

I hope the doc sheds some light on the situation for sure!

Hugs for now!

How are you doing? Did you get the info you needed for the MD? Are things better? I hope so. I am sending positive energy your way!
